THE PROJECT: I am walking and cycling through every street and neighborhood in lowland Greater Taipei, until I have seen it all with my own eyes. As I explore each neighborhood, I do research to find out how the place originated, what life was like during each stage of its development, and how the community and cityscape evolved over time. Informed by these two streams of discovery, I tell stories about the struggles, resilience, and innovation that built modern Taipei, this beautiful ugly city.
